Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad and Lebanese Minister of Public Affairs Ramzi Mousharrafiyeh discussed in Damascus the problem of the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, Interfax reports, citing the Syrian official media.
Syria stands for the return of all Syrian citizens to their homeland, creates conditions for their safe return, seeks to provide them with decent living conditions, Mekdad said.
He added that the West often politicizes the refugee issue and spreads misinformation on this topic.
The conflict in Syria has been going on since 2011. According to the UN, during the conflict, almost 4 million Syrians received asylum in neighboring countries. In particular, over 1 million Syrian refugees are registered in Lebanon, which is considered a close ally of Damascus.
