US President Joe Biden plans to hold a face-to-face meeting at the White House with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in April this year, TASS reported.
Thus, the head of the Japanese government will become the first foreign leader with whom Biden will meet at his official residence, Axios reported referring to its sources.
According to it, the talks may move to a later date from April, their implementation depends on the success in the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus. The meeting should highlight the importance of the American-Japanese alliance, as well as become the first in a series of visits to the United States by foreign leaders. The White House declined to comment on information about a possible summit of the leaders of the two countries.
Biden has earlier held a bilateral remote meeting with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. He also plans to meet with the leaders of Australia, India, and Japan.
