YEREVAN. – Andranik Makaryan, Head of the General Department of Training of the Armed Forces-Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, is involved as a defendant in a criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Arevik Khachatryan, head of the public relations department of the Prosecutor General's Office, stated this in response to an Armenian News-NEWS.am inquiry.
"[But] due to the legal principle of confidentiality of the investigation data, no additional information on the content of the criminal case, the accusation can be provided at the moment," Khachatryan added.
A local daily wrote Tuesday that a group of 60 people had gone missing because of an order by Makaryan.
