Armenia’s Representative before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Yeghishe Kirakosyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Michael Banzhaf.
As reported the Bureau of the Representative, the Ambassador was provided with information about the gross violations of human rights committed and belligerent operations carried out during the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan.
Special importance was attached to the actions for the return of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians being kept in Azerbaijan. Kirakosyan stated that the Bureau of the Representative before the ECHR has submitted several applications for interim measures for protection of the rights of those persons following the war, adding that the applications have been satisfied.
During the meeting, the parties attached importance to the fact that the issue of captives has been discussed by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and held a discussion on the results recorded by the Professional Commission on Constitutional Reforms.
