YEREVAN. – There are remains that are so mutilated that it is jus not possible to examine them. The Minister of Health, Anahit Avanesyan, told this to reporters after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia, and with respect to the remains of the Armenian soldiers who fell in the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war.
"We no longer have samples that have not been checked once, and there are remains, bodies that are quite mutilated, and it is quite a difficult process to conduct a DNA analysis and an examination from them. And we are in touch with other high-quality international institutions, with their experts, and we will see what results we will have," Avanesyan added.
The Minister of Health stated also that the remains are so mutilated that it will not be possible to examine them even in laboratories of other countries.
"We have a morgue in Metsamor [town] and the bodies are kept there. These are special refrigerators designed for such cases. I don’t know how many [such] bodies are kept in Metsamor.
There are 210 samples that are difficult to work with. We have more than 2,200 detections, and we have 180 parents waiting for the result of the samples," she said.
But Anahit Avanesyan dismissed the reports that the bodies of Azerbaijanis may also be among these samples and bodies.
