Many people don’t wear face masks, and they can be fined for this. I hope people become more vigilant after hearing the number of coronavirus cases today and we help protect ourselves, our relatives, our economy and the right to education and won’t have to increase restrictions. This is what Minister of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan told reporters after today’s government session.

“The government is doing everything possible to organize patients’ treatment and conduct tests. There is a specific plan, and we are admitting patients to hospitals as well,” the minister said.

Asked if the government will declare a lockdown, the minister said she doesn’t know. She added that the government and the Ministry of Health have taken steps to restrain the spread of the virus.

Avanesyan also stated that 901 patients are currently undergoing treatment. “There are 429 patients in critical condition, 96 in extremely critical condition, and 30 patients breathe through ventilators,” the minister said and informed that a few medical workers have already been vaccinated, but the Ministry of Health hasn’t received a new batch of vaccines yet. “I haven’t received the vaccine yet because I’m not in the risk group. I’ll get vaccinated when it’s my turn,” she said.

Today Armenia reported 784 coronavirus cases and 2 deaths.
