The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has provided some details about the release of Maral Najarian. Spokesperson of the Azerbaijani MFA Leyla Abdulayeva informed that Najarian was released on March 10. “We would like to mention that Najarian preferred to return to Lebanon, not Armenia. It should be mentioned that after discussions with the Russian side, it was impossible to transport Najarian through the territory of Russia since she is a citizen of Lebanon. So, Najarian was sent to Lebanon via Turkey. We would also like to mention that women of Armenian origin are not being kept in Azerbaijan now,” she assured, local presses report.
Maral Najarian, who is a citizen of both Lebanon and Armenia, was captured on November 10, 2020 in Berdzor. She had gone to Berdzor to take her personal items.
