The Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia has overturned the Court of First Instance decision, considered Aram Sargsyan's detention as illegal, and lifting the arrest imposed on him as a precautionary measure. Sargsyan's lawyer Benik Galstyan wrote about this on Facebook.

The National Security Service had detained Ara Saghatelyan, the former Chief of Staff of the National Assembly, analyst and ex-MP Karen Bekaryan, manager of the office of the "International Center for the Development of Parliamentarism" NGO Mher Avagyan, and citizen Aram Sargsyan along lines of the "Gagik Soghomonyan" fake Facebook page case.

They were charged under the Criminal Court articles on inciting national, racial or religious animosity by an organized group, making public calls for violence, publicly justifying or propagating violence, and violating the rules of publication or dissemination of information during martial law.

Saghatelyan and Sargsyan were arrested by a court decision, whereas Bekaryan and Avagyan were released.

The defense attorneys then appealed the decision to arrest Ara Saghatelyan, and the Criminal Court of Appeal ruled that Saghatelyan be released.
