The Azerbaijani authorities have committed crimes against humanity under COVID-19 conditions through large-scale armed attacks against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Armenia. The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Arman Tatoyan, wrote about this on Facebook.
"This fact is proved by the new special report of the RA Human Rights Defender in English. This special report of the Human Rights Defender shows, with concrete examples and professional analysis, "on the Azerbaijan’s crimes against humanity in the context of human-made disaster during COVID-19."
The special report states that despite the statements of the UN Secretary General and the Security Council that military operations should be stopped immediately in all situations under COVID-19, the launching of the war by the Azerbaijani authorities in September-November 2020 endangered the lives and health of the entire population of Artsakh, intentionally causing death and suffering. It has also significantly contributed to the increase in the number of deaths in Armenia.
All this has been done by accelerating the rapid spread of the deadly virus and achieving the final collapse of the healthcare system.
These recorded facts once again prove the claims of the Human Rights Defender that the Azerbaijani authorities should be held accountable for war crimes, as impunity breeds new, more heinous crimes.
The report ( https://ombuds.am/images/files/326290df4f5627efee9967798fdcbcb2.pdf ) will be sent to the relevant international structures, the RA state bodies,” Tatoyan added in particular.
