In total, about 3,000 hectares of arable land were lost in Nagorno-Karabak following a war, Hrach Berberian, chairman of Agrarian-Peasant Union of Armenia noted.

The loss of a number of territories of Karabakh led to the loss of 100 thousand tons of grain, about 1,300 hectares of pomegranate orchards, about 300 hectares of beetroot, huge areas with vineyards, about 250 hectares of onions.

He noted that these gardens were not lost, but, in fact, were completely transferred under the Azerbaijani control.

Touching upon the existing problems in the agricultural sector, the expert noted that the crisis in this area began and was largely due to the activities of banks, as well as the policy implemented by the government, which, instead of subsidizing the agricultural sector, provides active financial support to the banking sector.
