YEREVAN. – Yerevan will hold campaign under the slogan of “World without hunger.”
The campaign will start at 9.00 a.m. on Friday in front of the Armenian Ministry of Economics. A signature collection will follow at noon in the Republic Square. Campaign participants call to stimulate positive changes in production, consumption, distribution, and process control of produce and other resources.
The British Oxfam organization holds the campaign in 70 states in the world. The slogan is “World without hunger. We will grow and feed our state.”
According to the 2010 Global Hunger index made by International Food Policy Research Institute, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan were among states with “average level of malnutrition.” More than one billion people suffer from malnutrition in the world. The index of majority of former Soviet Union states is low, which means that situation is relatively favorable. However, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan marked average level of malnutrition. Minimum daily 1800 kilocalories are necessary for healthy and active life.
