Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artur Tovmasyan today received deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Nazeli Baghdasaryan.

During the meeting, Tovmasyan welcomed Baghdasaryan’s subsequent visit to Artsakh and the intensification of cooperation between the parliaments of the two Armenian republics and emphasized that the laws of Artsakh and Armenia on missing persons need to be identical.

During the enlarged meeting that followed, Baghdasaryan touched upon the expediency of the bill of Armenia’s legislature on missing persons and the need for adoption of the bill, adding that adoption of the bill will help solve the problems facing various government agencies. “We face issues every day after the signing of the truce, and they concern the status of missing persons and the social guarantees of their relatives. I fully hope we specify the status of missing persons after joint discussions,” she said and added that the bill was developed in 2006, but certain government agencies considered it outdated in the years that followed.

Baghdasaryan answered questions regarding the legal status of missing persons and assured that the deputies’ proposals would definitely be considered.
