YEREVAN. – The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has sent to court the criminal case—along with the indictment—against Vazgen Manukyan, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement. Arevik Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, stated about this Wednesday in response to Armenian News-NEWS.am's inquiry.

Manukyan was charged under Article 301 (public calls to seize power, violate territorial integrity or forcibly overthrow the constitutional order) of the Criminal Code, and a signature bond not to leave Armenia was selected as a precautionary measure against him.

On March 9, the aforesaid charge against Vazgen Manukyan was supplemented in connection with his calls during a rally on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue—across the parliament building—on February 26, which, according to the Investigative Committee, also contained violent calls to seize power and overthrow the constitutional order.
