Nikol Pashinyan personally has to decide whether he wants to leave the country or not. In general, I don’t think we should tell any citizen to leave the country. This is what deputy of the opposition Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Edmon Marukyan told reporters today, touching upon first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s statement that Nikol Pashinyan needs to resign and take shelter in a foreign country with security guarantees.
“Levon Ter-Petrosyan made his statement for security considerations. I believe Pashinyan still has a chance to provide political solutions without applying extreme methods,” he said.
Asked if he doesn’t think that Pashinyan has to be held criminally liable, Marukyan said the following: “In my opinion, people are not held criminally liable. If you ask me, a few 100 people can be sentenced. People are held criminally liable based on faces and a launched criminal case, after an unbiased, objective and comprehensive investigation and upon entry into force of the indictment.”
