Military analyst Artur Yeghiazaryan’s son, Argam Yeghiazaryan posted the following on his Facebook page along with photos:

“A little anti-Armenian symbolism in Shushi

Azerbaijan has already started changing the names of streets in Shushi. Out of all online maps, Yandex Map was the first to provide service for azerbaijan.

Most of the streets on the map have been named in ‘honor’ of the Azerbaijanis who are originally from Shushi or have somehow had a connection to the city.

The street on which our house is located is (was) named after founding father of Armenia Aram Manukyan. Do you know whom the street is named after now? It is not named after the founder of azerbaijan, but the founder of turkey, that is, Ataturk.

As a matter of fact, my father, Artur Yeghiazaryan proposed to name that street in Shushi in honor of Aram Manukyan when, in 1993, under the leadership of the late Shahen Mkrtchyan, a group was set up to change the names of the streets of Shushi that were named after foreigners.

The school in Shushi that my father and his friend, Artashes Torozyan established in October 1992 was also named after Aram Manukyan.”
