Yerem Sargsyan, attorney of Colonel of the National Security Service of Armenia Serob Harutyunyan, today posted on his Facebook page that the court has terminated criminal prosecution against his client, adding that Harutyunyan has been acquitted. He added the following:

“On February 13, 2020, hraparak.am published an article entitled “Suren Papikyan concealed the fact of his conviction” [Suren Papikyan is the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia], in relation to which the Special Investigation Service (SIS) had launched a criminal case, and on February 28, 2020, the SIS charged Serob Harutyunyan with abuse of official position.

An extensive investigation was conducted for nearly a year, and in the end, it was confirmed that not only has Serob Harutyunyan not abused official position, but has also not committed any crime against public service. Thus, criminal prosecution was terminated on the ground of absence of corpus delicti.

This means that Serob Harutyunyan is acquitted, his position will be restored and he will receive the salary of the previous year.”
