In response to an official inquiry, the press service of Gazprom Armenia CJSC told Sputnik Armenia that Russian natural gas has been reaching Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan since yesterday and that the route will be active between March 18 and April 15 due to the implementation of repair works following the accident that took place on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia highway natural gas pipeline.

The company stresses that the Russian natural gas is supplied through the agreement concluded between Gazprom Export LLC and Gazprom Armenia CJSC.

“According to the terms of the agreement, Gazprom Armenia CJSC receives natural gas at the Red Bridge natural gas meter station in the territory of Georgia,” the response states.

The company states that, according to information from Gazprom Export LLC, the change of route of transfer of Russian natural gas through the territory of Georgia is linked to the repair works and fulfilment of the contractual obligations for supply of natural gas to Armenia.

As far as the natural gas resources in Armenia are concerned, according to the press release, they are strategic and are used to regulate the inequalities of receipt and sale of natural gas on a daily basis and during seasons.

On March 17, Gazprom Export LLC issued a statement stating that Russian natural gas will be temporarily supplied to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan.
