YEREVAN. – Of course, we follow the instructions given, and I am confident that the Armed Forces will not take part in any political process which is not envisioned by the Constitution and laws. The newly appointed chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Artak Davtyan, on Monday stated this while addressing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

On February 25, Davtyan—who was then an ex-chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces—had stated that he did not consider the Armed Forces’ statement demanding the resignation of the PM and his government to be meddling in politics. "If they made the statement, then I believe they had that right. I believe that any agency can make a statement, there is a leader for that who bears responsibility for the statement. I do not see anything of [the army] getting involved in politics. I see that things are not good in the country; it says that the general situation is not so good, which can lead to unpredictable consequences," Artak Davtyan had said.
