YEREVAN. – The authorities tend to adopt amendments to the Electoral Code aimed at a transition to a fully proportional representation electoral system and to go to the snap parliamentary elections with the proportional electoral system; the respective discussions are underway at the moment. Lilit Makunts, leader of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Tuesday told about this to reporters in the NA.
But Makunts did not specify with whom the discussions on the Electoral Code will be, and whether they only want to change its provision on the proportional representation electoral system. "The discussion includes various segments. You know that the package of amendments to the Electoral Code was quite inclusive, various forces were involved there. First of all, we are talking about those who took part in these discussions. Also, the amendments need to be realistic for the upcoming snap elections. (…). First of all, the amendments should imply simplification," she said.
