Armenia plans to dissolve the Special Investigative Service and set up the Anti-Corruption Commission. This is what Minister of Justice of Armenia Rustam Badasyan said during today’s discussion on the bills on making amendments to the Law on the Anti-Corruption Commission and related laws in the second and final reading.

“The government will appoint the members of the Commission. Earlier, it was confirmed that the Prime Minister will personally appoint the members. The decision to dissolve the Special Investigation Service came after discussions with law-enforcement authorities and the Special Investigation Service,” Badasyan said.

Nevertheless, the investigators of the Special Investigation Service will be temporarily appointed investigators of the Anti-Corruption Commission so long as a competition hasn’t been announced. The Commission will comprise 20 investigators.
