Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan today received newly appointed Ambassador of Iceland to Armenia Arni Thor Sigurdsson (seat in Moscow).
The deputy minister stated that Armenia and Iceland have successfully cooperated on international platforms and particularly within various structures of the Council of Europe. He also considered prospective exchange of experience and further partnership in the areas of territorial administration and local self-governance, development of local democracy, expansion of inter-community relations, transport communication and diversification of energy infrastructures.
Terteryan also attached special importance to the significant role that Iceland has played in the preservation of Armenia historical and cultural values within the scope of the UNESCO and further support.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Sigurdsson expressed willingness to expand the partnership between Armenia and Iceland. He added that Iceland is interested in the use of the unused potential in the indicated sectors and the exchange of experience within the framework of reforms in the areas of civil aviation, thermal energy and administrative-territorial reforms.
