YEREVAN. – Yerevan police officers came to the office of the opposition National Accord party Friday morning, and detained party leader Aram Harutyunyan.

First, a police officer told Harutyunyan that there was a relevant decision and they shall enter the premises, but Harutyunyan did not allow it.

Aram Harutyunyan tore—from the policeman's hand—the respective decision paper with which the officer of the law was trying to inform him about the purpose of their visit to the party office

The policeman then said to Harutyunyan: "You have committed a crime right now and we will apprehend you. (…). You are hindering the implementation of our activities. I notified you about the purpose of our visit."

After that, the police officer telephoned, and several other police officers came and forcibly apprehended Aram Harutyunyan because he did not want to go with the police.

He announced: "We have been renting here since 2001. The term expired, we applied to extend the term; they did not extend it. Now the [Yerevan] municipality demands [us] to vacate the premises. Moreover, they gave [the case] to the court without telling us. The court made a decision to evict us, which we were not present at and, naturally, we will not carry out the court decision.”
