Azerbaijan is doing everything to torpedo the process of opening communications, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of the National Assembly.

“I want to state that we will consistently move towards the implementation of the statement signed on January 11 in Moscow, because the establishment of rail links with Russia and Iran the day before is a strategic task for us. This will mean that we can become a transport transit route from the Persian Gulf to the Pacific Ocean. In all likelihood, Azerbaijan will do everything possible to prevent the opening of communications,” Pashinyan said.

He also noted that oil and gas played an important role in the economic strengthening of Azerbaijan.

“But Armenia has a huge potential for oil in the 21st century - copper and water. Armenia should be able to do so as to export not ore, but finished products. And this is directly related to the opening of communications, since the availability of a railway connection is important for investment. Yes, we have huge resources of copper and water,” the Prime Minister noted.
