Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, expects a return to normal cooperation with the Armenian parliament as soon as possible, which was disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic, TASS reports.

According to her, the interparliamentary dialogue with Armenia continues. "Of course, the pandemic made its adjustments. Much of what was planned failed to be materializes. However, I believe we will return to a normal rhythm," Matviyenko said during a meeting with speaker Ararat Mirzoyan of the National Assembly of Armenia.

She noted that Russia and Armenia have actively collaborated during this pandemic. "Armenia is one of the first to receive the Russian vaccines [against COVID-19]," Matviyenko added.

Also, the Russian Federation Council head noted that an important political event awaits Armenia—snap parliamentary elections. "We hope that despite all the difficulties, the elections will be held in an open, democratic way, and will enable stabilizing the situation in Armenia," she said.
