The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Armenia has rendered a decision and suspended the powers of Ruben Vardazaryan as a judge and as a member of the SJC, as reported the SJC’s press service.
The press service reported the following: “During a closed session held today, the Supreme Judicial Council, taking as a basis the fact that the Prosecutor General informed the Supreme Judicial Council about launching criminal prosecution against Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, judge of the Yerevan Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Ruben Vardazaryan for not exercising his powers and governed by particular articles of the Judicial Code of Armenia, rendered a decision to suspend the powers of Ruben Vardazaryan as a judge and as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council until the end of the proceedings under the criminal case launched against him. According to the Judicial Code of Armenia, the senior member of the Council, that is, academic member of the Supreme Judicial Council Gagik Jhangiryan will fulfill the duties of the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.”
As reported earlier, a criminal case has been launched against Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan, but it’s still not clear under what elements.
