The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) on Sunday accepted the largest batch of COVID-19 vaccine the country has imported since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020, Tasnim News reported.

The shipment, which includes a million doses of vaccine, was provided by the Chinese Red Cross Society, IRCS Secretary-General noted.

The shipment arrived at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport this morning.

Iran has already granted emergency authorization for a number of vaccines, including Sputnik V, Covaxin, AstraZeneca, and others. So far, more than 889,000 Iranians have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, mostly health workers and seniors over 80.
