YEREVAN. – The opposition Bright Armenia Party (BAP) calls on all political forces to refrain from disseminating hate speech and threats during the snap parliamentary elections and the election campaign season. Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the BAP and head of its faction in the National Assembly (NA), stated about this during Monday’s NA special session to discuss the matter of electing a new Prime Minister.

According to him, Bright Armenia has prepared a statement, according to which inimical speech should not be used during the election campaign. "The [political] forces that will join the text are obligated to refrain from hate speech and threats all through the election campaign. We will publish the content of the text soon," Marukyan said.

He added that in the current political situation, dissolving the legislature and holding snap parliamentary elections is the right thing to do in Armenia, and there is no alternative to it.
