YEREVAN. – My Step ruling bloc will work to restore the territorial integrity of [Nagorno-] Karabakh [(Artsakh)]. Vladimir Vardanyan, an MP from the majority My Step faction and chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Monday said this during the traditional briefings at the NA, when asked how he feels on May 9—when in Armenia this day is celebrated as the day of anniversaries of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the liberation of Shushi town in the first Artsakh war in the early 1990s, and the Artsakh army day—, when Shushi is now under the control of Azerbaijan.
According to the MP, all Armenians had extremely mixed feelings on this past May 9. "It was hard for each of us. It was so difficult for us, as, in fact, we tried to relive and reinterpret everything that happened, and at the same time, it was joyous, as we still see that today Armenians continue to live in Karabakh, [the] Armenian [language] still sounds In Karabakh, Karabakh is independent and not under the control of any state," said the MP.
Moreover, Vardanyan noted that their objective of restoring the territorial integrity of Artsakh has both a political and a national component.
