Police have issued an explanatory statement in connection with the statement by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan—the official representative of the election campaign headquarters of the “Armenia” bloc, led by second President Robert Kocharyan—according to which, “Some individual police officers, seeing the signs of the ‘Armenia’ bloc, have entered the spaces of the offices without any justification, and tried to inquire about the sign of the office and other organizational matters of the office.”
"We inform that the police officers serving their territories are visiting all the election [campaign] offices these days, handing their business cards—with personal data—to the heads of the offices, and asking for their contact information in order to collaborate if necessary.
These actions are within the functions of the police, and are primarily in the interests of the election [campaign] offices, and are aimed at ensuring their normal functioning.
And inquiries are being conducted by the police in connection with the above-mentioned statement," the Police explanatory statement reads, in particular.
