The US State Department advises its citizens not to travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan. What does this mean? This is what Armenian international relations specialist Suren Sargsyan wrote on his Facebook page, adding the following:

“To avoid needless tension, I will merely state the facts:

1. Such alerts are regular and extraordinary.

2. There was a similar alert two days before the 44-day war [in Nagorno-Karabakh].

3. This was preceded by the Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises and accumulation of Azerbaijani weapons along the length of the border.

4. Now, for some reason, there is serious escalation, but there is no accumulation of troops.

5. This alert also comes after the statement issued by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

6. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan talked about this with Aliyev and Pashinyan two days ago.
