Vahe Hovhannisyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Stepan Margaryan, and Gegham Nazaryan, members of the Alternative Projects Group, have issued a statement Thursday.
"According to the information we have, [ex-deputy PM] Armen Gevorgyan was called to the SIS [(Special Investigation Service)] this morning on another false accusation. This has happened immediately after the decision to appoint Armen Gevorgyan as head of the [election campaign] headquarters of the ‘Hayastan’ bloc [led by second President Robert Kocharyan].
The problem is not private; the problem is not in the person of Armen Gevorgyan. (…).
We are confident that there is a need:
1. To strictly warn the state system, law enforcement agencies that illegal activities will not be without consequences, the implementation of illegal instructions will be severely punished after the formation of the new government. They will be punished individually.
2. To immediately start consultations, a process of broad public consolidation to change the course of the new developments being outlined. Consolidation with real forces, real circles, real individuals, and not in unproductive formats," the statement reads, in particular.
