On May 15, the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia carried out a fact-finding mission in the Verin Shorzha village of Vardenis community of Armenia, the nearby grazing fields, as well as in Kut village of Geghamasar community in regard to the gross violations of the rights of borderline residents due to Azerbaijani soldiers’ unlawful presence in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia since May 12.

The Office of the Human Rights Defender reports that the evidence obtained by the Ombudsman regarding the illegal acts of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces affirm the absolute need for the creation of a buffer zone proposed by the Ombudsman in order to guarantee the rights of Armenians living on Armenia’s border.

The results of the visit will be summed up, and actions will be taken to protect the rights of the borderline residents.
