The Self-Defense Committee of Armenia, the members of which are the 5165 Movement and Zartonk National Christian Party, is inviting citizens to a rally at Charles Aznavour Square in Yerevan.
The Movement’s statement reads as follows:
“The government resigned on the ground that it no longer enjoys the trust of the population. The ad-hoc government is not competent to sign, on behalf of the Republic of Armenia, any document that will concern the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia or will pose a risk to the change of borders of the Republic of Armenia. It is clear that Nikol Pashinyan is secretly preparing to sign with Azerbaijan a document serving as a ground for delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of the maps of Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan. The signing of this document will mean the creation of legal grounds for recognizing Artsakh as an inseparable part of Azerbaijan once and for all.
Thus, to prevent this destructive process, tomorrow, on May 22, 2021 at 6 p.m. the Self-Defense Committee of Armenia (5165 Movement and Zartonk National Christian Party) are inviting citizens to an urgent rally with the following demand:
- the ad-hoc government must declare that it won’t sign, on behalf of the Republic of Armenia, any document that will create grounds to cede the territories of the Republic of Armenia.
During the rally, the following will be presented:
- information and analysis of the content of the document that the ad-hoc authorities of Armenia are negotiating;
- the idea, goals, functions and future action plan of the Self-Defense Committee of Armenia;
- the action plan for disobedience in case the ad-hoc government fails to accept the demand.”
