President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arayik Harutyunyan today attended the funeral of commander of the motor-rifle battalion of a military unit of the Defense Army of Artsakh, Major Davit Arushanyan (Arushanyan has the highest “Hero of Artsakh” title) at Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan and granted the “Golden Eagle” Order to the relatives of the deceased, as reported the Staff of the President of Artsakh.
Davit Arushanyan has been posthumously awarded the highest “Hero of Artsakh” title for homeland defense and exceptional services provided to Artsakh for ensuring security, as well as for his courage. He actively participated in the Four-Day Artsakh War of April 2016 and during the large-scale hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh on September 27, 2020. While fighting during the hostilities, Arushanyan destroyed a large number of military equipment of the adversary and made the latter lose a lot of manpower. Even when he was injured, he brilliantly met his combat objective and sacrificed his life to defend the borders of the homeland. With his heroic acts, he succeeded in suspending the enemy’s advancement towards the Armenian military posts.
