His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians today received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Fukushima Masanori at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, as reported the press divan of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

During the meeting, His Holiness conveyed his kind wishes to the Ambassador, wished him success, attached importance to the close cooperation between Armenia and Japan and, with satisfaction, recorded the partnership between the Mother See and the Embassy of Japan.

In his turn, the newly appointed Ambassador assured the Supreme Patriarch that he will do his best to further strengthen the relations between the two peoples. Attaching importance to the existing relations between the two countries, the Ambassador stated that the Japanese government must continue to provide humanitarian aid to Armenia.

During the conversation, the parties touched upon the hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the devastating consequences of the war and the existing challenges, as well as the need for the international community’s response.

The Catholicos of All Armenians attached special importance to speaking the truth to prevent such disasters and emphasized that silence may cause the repetition of such crimes. He also expressed gratitude for the support that Japan has been providing to Armenia during these difficult times.
