The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction today ended the trial over the case of Hayk Sargsyan, nephew of third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
The judge left for the consultation room to render a verdict.
“My only request is a fair verdict,” accused on trial Hayk Sargsyan said as he addressed the court.
Hayk Sargsyan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan said he and his client anticipate a fair verdict, regardless of everything. “The trial showed that this case is phony,” he added.
Hayk Sargsyan is charged with a crime committed 11 years ago (attempt of murder and illegally keeping arms and ammunition).
On September 10, 2018, the court granted the motion of Hayk Sargsyan’s attorney and ruled to declare the pledge for him as admissible.
The prosecutor for the case had demanded imprisonment for a term of seven years.
