President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian held a telephone conversation with Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Lieutenant General Artak Davtyan.

Davtyan provided Sarkissian with information about the capture of Armenian servicemen who were carrying out engineering work at the protection area of their military unit at the border area of Gegharkunik Province and the current situation on the border.

The head of state said he considers the use of all the resources of relevant bodies and first and foremost the Armenian Armed Forces and diplomats for the return of the captured servicemen. Sarkissian said maximum efforts need to be made to ensure the security and protection of the rights of Armenian soldiers protecting the border and the population of the Republic of Armenia.

Noting that Armenia’s international partners and the international community need to strictly respond to Azerbaijan’s provocative actions in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, Sarkissian said he will continue to raise the issue during his talks with international partners.
