Armenia’s acting Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts and Deputy Head of the Operative Response Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Colonel Norayr Karapetyan today held a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Armenia, as reported the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Adonts presented the provocative actions of the Azerbaijani military formations which invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on May 12 and touched upon the capture of six servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the border section of Gegharkunik Province.

Colonel Karapetyan provided details of the incident, noting that the captured servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia haven’t crossed the state border of Armenia and were captured at a depth of 800 meters from the state border of Armenia.

Adonts stated that Armenia anticipates the immediate and addressable response and active interference of partnering and friendly countries. “The Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the UN Charter, reserves itself the right to take necessary and adequate steps to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity and ensure security of the Armenian people,” the deputy foreign minister added.
