Armenia ex-president Robert Kocharyan said that current authorities are trying to blame Russia for the defeat in a war.

"No country other than Russia can play a significant role in this region," he noted. "If you look at the map, it becomes obvious that Turkey's role is growing, and this worries us. The only country that can contain this is Russia. From this point of view, we must deepen our relationship. There is no other country that could replace Russia."

According to Kocharyan, in addition to allied ties, Armenia and Russia are linked by history, deep cultural ties, and the absence of a language barrier.
