Baku responded with accusations on Yerevan’s statement that Azerbaijan did not prove ready to accept the final draft of basic principles of Karabakh conflict settlement prepared by the co-chairs at Kazan meeting on June 24.
“I’d like to point out that Armenian side again abuses the situation around negotiations process for its own gain, accusing Azerbaijan in breakdown of basic principal acceptance and therefore deluding the international community,” said the Head of Foreign Relations Department at Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Norvuz Mammadov.
“Azerbaijan has long been the side ensuring peace in the region. Political will of Azerbaijan’s leadership is aimed at continuing the peaceful negotiation process and resolving the conflict exclusively in peaceful way. Armenian officials, claiming they are making efforts to prevent the resumption of hostilities, are simply engaged in deception of the international community.
During the talks in Kazan, Azerbaijan had to state its position on this issue, while Armenia, unfortunately, began to accuse Azerbaijan for the fruitless results of negotiations. Everybody knows that it was Armenia who disrupted the agreements reached in Athens and in St. Petersburg. In Sochi, Armenian side came up with a project, which has not been agreed upon with the mediators. That is Armenia is used to play tricks.
The negotiations are hard, but we will continue to defend our positions and principles, despite the Armenian side," said Mammadov.
