According to the points stated in the statement adopted on January 11, 2021, the expert sub-groups have conducted extensive analyses and research to identify the technically possible and effective options for railway and automobile transport, taking into consideration the opportunities for organizing and implementing the necessary security, border, customs and other types of control. This is what acting Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan told Tert.am when asked what President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev meant when he said the Armenian side is exploring “the issues related to the inevitability of the Zangezur corridor”.

“In the context of the unblocking of the current transport links in the region, the issues related to organizing of border, customs and other types of control with regard to international transport continue to be explored. In this same context, the potential impact of the transport infrastructures and routes of other countries of the region and the economic consequences are also being assessed. At this moment, what is more visible are the opportunities for restoration of the railway infrastructures and routes that existed during the Soviet era and cargo transportation with equal rights and conditions. In regard to the works for unblocking of regional transport links, we reiterate the fact that the Republic of Armenia has not discussed and will not discuss issues within the logic of “corridor”,” he said.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has declared that the Armenian side is exploring “the issues related to the inevitability of the Zangezur corridor”. According to Minval.az, Aliyev talked about this when he received the delegation led by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey.
