YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Ara Aivazian's resignation [from the post of acting FM] was as matured as it was a surprise.

According to MFA sources, Aivazian decided not to submit a letter [of resignation] before the [snap parliamentary] elections [on June 20], but the process accelerated, and he decided not to wait for 20 days, as the MFA has been willy-nilly pushed out of the game and become a participant in non-pro-Armenian steps.

[Acting PM] Pashinyan's proposal made at the SC [(Security Council)] meeting to the OSCE Minsk Group—to deploy international observers on the border [with Azerbaijan]—has prompted Russia to active actions. And the RF [(Russian Federation)] has taken the situation under its "control" by resorting to the force method.

The Russian side is worried that other peacekeepers will be deployed in Armenia.

It is not accidental that Aivazian's resignation followed [acting defense minister] Vagharshak Harutyunyan's visit to Moscow. It is not yet clear what instructions he received in Moscow, but in recent days Russian peacekeepers have been spotted on the borders of Gegharkunik [Province of Armenia].
