Russia's Defense Ministry is checking the reliability of its nuclear weapons. The statement came from Igor Kolesnikov, head of the ministry's Second General Department, Lenta.ru reports.
The respective tests have begun at the Central Nuclear Test Site, but the military will conduct only non-nuclear explosion experiments. "Given the set prohibition, no nuclear explosion has been carried out at that test site for more than 31 years already," Kolesnikov said.
He added that similar tests are being conducted in the United States, too—in Nevada.
