Officials should be prosecuted for lying. Second President Robert Kocharyan, the leader of the "Armenia" bloc that will run in the snap parliamentary elections on June 20, said this during Monday’s meeting in Agarak village of Syunik Province.

Speaking about the fact that the current authorities, despite what happened, still enjoy the trust of a part of the Armenian population, Kocharyan stated: "Some still believe [in them]. It is not at all clear how one can believe those who lie five times a day. Lying has become a common occurrence, and we have become unacceptably tolerant of the lies of officials. An official who lies must be fired immediately. We have already seen the destructive consequences of lies. But when he [an official] lies and a part of the population believes [in him], it means that those people are also guided by lies. You cannot build anything on a lie. The building built on a lie will be demolished. We are 'tasting' the consequences of that lie," Kocharyan added.
