The upcoming elections aren’t ordinary elections since the situation in the country is about to explode. These elections will be the most embarrassing and the most dangerous elections in the history of Armenia. This is what candidate of the Armenian National Congress Party for Prime Minister of Armenia, first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan told reporters today.
Ter-Petrosyan stated that there are two axes that are ready to do anything to achieve their goals and possess a tremendous amount of financial, administrative and criminal resources.
According to Ter-Petrosyan, it would have been possible to achieve the peaceful resignation of the authorities and form a normal government during a crisis, if Armenia’s second and third Presidents Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan had accepted his proposal to form a bloc, under the condition that they won’t hold state positions.
“In this case, Pashinyan would step down, and this would lead to the formation of a government of technocrats that could fix the situation in one or two years, but Kocharyan and Sargsyan rejected the proposal. Now there will be a battle, not to mention a civil war. There will be thousands of violations, as well as incidents, and the situation might get out of hand,” he added.
The several violations that were committed during the elections organized by and held with the participation of Ter-Petrosyan led to devastating events in Armenia twice (the results of the 1996 presidential elections led to an attack on the parliament, and the infamous events took place on March 1, 2008).
