The Azerbaijani servicemen deployed near the borderline villages of Gegharkunik and Syunik Provinces are busy stealing the cattle of residents of Armenia. This is what Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page.

Tatoyan also brought examples, stating that on June 5 the Azerbaijanis stole over 80 animals from a shepherd in Kut village and haven’t returned them yet, and on June 6, the Azerbaijanis attempted to steal nearly 20 horses in the grazing field inn Verin Shorzha village of Vardenis town of Gegharkunik Province, on May 29, they stole cattle in Khnatsakh village and never returned them.

“It’s clear that the theft of animals belonging to the borderline residents of Armenia is causing social and also vital damages to the residents of Armenia living on the border. What must also be taken into consideration is the fact that the Azerbaijanis threaten civilians of Armenia, showing shepherds their weapons, pushing them around, hitting them, using swear words against them, etc.

All these cases have been confirmed with pieces of evidence gathered by the Human Rights Defender. And all this is happening after the Azerbaijanis invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia with fake maps.

The mentioned acts must be viewed as deliberate acts, taking into consideration the fact that the Azerbaijanis are committing the same acts against the residents (shepherds) of the villages of both Syunik Province and Gegharkunik Province.

A buffer zone is absolutely urgent in order to protect the rights of the population of Armenia from the criminal acts of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. Today’s incident goes to show who is actually undermining the security of people in the region and the prospects for restoration of peace,” he also wrote.
