The disseminated video showing Azerbaijanis beating an Armenian serviceman is not new, the incident took place on June 2 in Verin Shorzha, and a criminal case has been launched. This is what Chief Advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia Gor Abrahamyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“In regard to the video showing an Armenian serviceman being beaten and which is actively being disseminated on social networks today, I deem it necessary to clarify that the incident didn’t take place today and is not a new one, as mentioned in the disclosed video on Telegram channel that is the source.

The incident took place on June 2 in the Verin Shorza settlement near the border. A dispute took place between servicemen of the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan having illegally infiltrated into the mentioned territory and the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia who were carrying out engineering works. During the dispute, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan beat and caused bodily injuries to two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia. The video is devoted to the incident that happened to one of the servicemen.

In relation to the incident, based on the prepared report, the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the garrison in Sevan has launched a criminal case.”
