Today the police station in the city of Gavar of Gegharkunik Province of Armenia received reports that representatives of a political party running in the snap parliamentary elections (set for June 20) gave a bribe to voters of Gavar in the form of in-kind items to vote in favor of the particular political party during the elections, as reported the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia.

Factual data were obtained according to which head of the territorial office of the political party in Gavar had transferred nearly 80 packages of food (each costing AMD 7,000) to the apartment of the office’s secretary to give a bribe to voters.

Taking into account the fact that there are elements of crime of giving bribe to two or more voters and receipt of bribe, the police have launched a criminal case.

As a result of the measures taken, two persons have been apprehended. Measures are being taken to clarify the possible involvement of other persons in the criminal acts.
