YEREVAN. – Armenia imported foreign paintings in the amount of $1 million last year, while majority of Armenian painters hardly make both ends meet, National Statistical Service of Armenia stated in its report on Armenian external trade in 2010.

According to the report, Armenia imported 558 paintings in the amount of $900,000 and 2.2 tones of small artworks in the amount of $45,000. Meanwhile Armenian painters exported paintings in the amount of $20,000 in 2010.

Armenian Ministry of Culture should probably organize special courses for Armenian rich people in order to choose local works of art.
