Sudan says it will hand over former officials wanted for alleged war crimes in the Darfur region to the International Criminal Court (ICC), BBC News reported.

Until now, the names of the persons who were transferred have been kept secret. The country's rulers have already promised to surrender ex-President Omar al-Bashir, who was in power during the conflict, but he remains at large.

The war in Darfur has caused one of the world's worst humanitarian crises in recent years.

At least 300,000 people were killed in the 2003 conflict between insurgents and government forces. Millions of others have been forced to flee their homes and go to camps for displaced persons.
